Responses to Claims Made on JosephLied.com Joseph Smith Jr. (1805-1844) was a prophet of God and was an instrument in God's hands in founding The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, sometimes referred to in the media as the Mormon Church or the LDS Church. The Church has a proud history that has been thoroughly documented. There is nothing in this history that would cause me to doubt the truthfulness of the Church or its founder. For the last several years Mike Norton has maintained a website at JosephLied.com where he attempts to discredit the Church by claiming that its documented history proves that Joseph Smith lied about his prophetic calling. The purpose of this website is to provide direct responses to each of Norton's assertions in order to demonstrate how the documented history of the Church bolsters, rather than contradicts, Joseph Smith's claims and those of his successors.
